Pacers at Spurs
Collis Temple's late 4th
quarter shot brought the Spurs to within a point of the Pacers with just
one shot left. The Spurs intentionally fouled Darrell Hillman who hit both
his free throws to make it a 131-128 game. The Spurs missed the
potential game tying three pointer on the last shot of the game.
The Pacers had a big advantage at the free throw line shooting 41 free throws to the Spurs 27. In fact, Swen Nater, Rich Jones, and Coby Dietrick fouled out of the game while George Gervin and George Karl had five fouls each.
The free throw disparity and some poor shooting by the spurs helped the
pacers to open up a 16 point lead in the second half. The Spurs slowly chipped away in the fourth quarter before coming up just short. Next week - a rematch of these two teams.
