Vic Wertz's solo homer gave the Indians a lead in the second inning. Jim Finigan countered with a two run blast for the A's in the fourth. That was all the offense as Bob Feller gets the short end of this pitchers' duel.

Although he gave up a few walks, Score was pretty dominant in this outing. Tommy Lasorda was surprisingly tough on the Tribe allowing just two runs (one earned) in six innings.

 Score was cruising along until he got hurt in the bottom of the fourth. He should be good to go for his next start, but the Indians definitely missed him in this game. 

After the Indians took a 2-1 lead on a rare Bob Feller home run, the normally reliable relief pitching of Ray Narleski and Don Mossi went AWOL and the Orioles broke the game wide open in the eighth. To add injury to the insult, Bobby Avila will miss 18 games with an injury.

Through 26 innings pitched, Score has an ERA of 2.05 with a batting average against of .159! His K/9IP is 7.2 while his BB/9IP is 3.8.

The previous Score start was part of a Sunday doubleheader. I decided to go ahead and play the second game as well. Bob Lemon pitched for the Indians while Bob Miller started for the Tigers.

The Indians just never could get any clutch hits in this game leaving 13 men on base! Meanwhile, Detroit took Lemon deep a couple of times, and that's all she wrote. Indians are now 3-1 in the replay.

Herb was really on his game today pitching a shutout until the tired a bit in he ninth. Al Rosen's three run homer in the first gave him all the run support he would need.

Mathewson gets the complete game allowing just 5 hits in the first 7 innings.Beals Becker had a double and a triple while driving in two runs.

1935 All-Star Game

The game was played in Cleveland, so the AL was the home team. Bill Walker started for the NL and Lefty Gomez for the AL. Here's how it went.

Joe Vosmik led off the bottom of the first with a walk and scored on a Jimmie Foxx sac fly. AL leads 1-0.

Jimmie Wilson tripled off Lefty Grove in the top of the fifth and then scored on Pepper Martin's single to tie the game 1-1.

The Nationals took the lead in the eighth on a strange sequence. Arky Vaughan walked and then went to third after singles by Mel Ott and Ducky Medwick. With the bases loaded and Mel Harder on the mound for the AL, Harder inexplicably balks to score Vaughan! NL leads 2-1.

Buddy Myer led off the eighth with a walk and then scored when Earl Averill drew a bases loaded walk against Dizzy Dean. Game tied 2-2.

In the bottom of the tenth Ben Chapman doubles off Paul Derringer. That brings pitcher Tommy Bridges to the plate. I tried to play everybody, so I have no pinch-hitter for Bridges. But Bridges is not a terrible hitter for a pitcher - he hit .239. You can see where this is going, no? Sure enough, Bridges doubles to score Chapman with the winning run. Bridges gets the walk off double and the Win too.
