1951 Baseball Tour of America - American Association - Milwaukee at Toledo

Off to Toledo, Ohio. You know a certain corporal in Korea wishes he could be there.

Milwaukee Brewers   7

Toledo Mud Hens     4

The Brewers took control of this one early and never looked back.

Milwaukee Brewers   4
Toledo Mud Hens     3

The Mud Hens take an early 3-1 lead, but the Brewers scored single runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to win.

Milwaukee Brewers   6
Toledo Mud Hens     0

Total domination by the Brewers.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - American Association (AAA)

Let's stay at the AAA level and head out to the Midwest for some wholesome American Association action.

Indianapolis Indians    6
St. Paul Saints         5 (11)

A wild one with a flurry of late inning runs is decided when the Indians score a run in the eleventh and stop the Saints in the bottom of the inning.

Indianapolis Indians    3
St. Paul Saints         4

Saints take a 4-1 lead, and while  the Indians would make it interesting later in the game, the lead would hold.

Indianapolis Indians    1
St. Paul Saints         6

The Saints kept the Indians off the scoreboard until the ninth.

Done for now.

Not interested in sports table top gaming at the moment. Will return...I don't know when.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - International League (AAA)

Due to incomplete data, this league is not rated for Spring Coming Baseball. So, I came up with my own game to fill the void which just gives me the final scores without a inning by inning narrative.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - July 4, 1951 National League

Phillies @ Braves

Phillies   4
Braves     5

The Phillies tie the game at three a piece with a run in the top of the ninth. The teams match single runs in the tenth before the Braves score the game winner in the eleventh.

Phillies   5
Braves    10

The Braves scored the first four runs of the game before the Phillies answered to tie it up at 5-5, but a big four run seventh inning by the Braves was too much for the Fightins to overcome.

Giants @ Dodgers

Giants    3
Dodgers   4

The Dodger bats were quite early, but they eventually manage to tie the game 3-3 before winning it in the bottom of the ninth.

Giants    6
Dodgers   5

Giants scored the go ahead run in the ninth. The Dodgers put a couple of men on in the bottom of the inning, but they are left stranded.

Cardinals @ Cubs

Cardinals   1
Cubs        4

The Cubs throw some great pitching at Cards.

Cardinals   3
Cubs        1

And now the Cards throw some great pitching at the Cubs.

Reds @ Pirates

Cincinnati  7
Pittsburgh  6

Reds add an "insurance" run in the top of the ninth and it would prove to be the difference in the game after the Pirates scored a run in the bottom of the frame.

Cincinnati   5
Pittsburgh   4

Wow! The same scenario as above as Pirates fall a run short again.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - July 4, 1951 American League

As part of this project, something a little different as we check in on the doubleheader games on July 4.

Senators @ Yankees

Senators   6
Yankees    9

This was a wild back and forth tilt that turned for good in the Yankees direction when they scored three in the bottom of the seventh.

Senators    7
Yankees     8

The Yankees tie up the second game 5-5 with a run in the ninth. Each team scored a run in the tenth and then again in the eleventh. The Senators failed to score in the twelfth, but the Yankees did. Darn, they're good.

Red Sox @ Athletics

Red Sox     6
Athletics   4

The Athletics stay close to the Red Sox, but can't quite catch up to them.

Red Sox     4
Athletics   5

The Athletics stake out an early 3-1 lead and hold on for dear life as a Red Sox rally in the top of the ninth falls a run short.

White Sox @ Tigers

White Sox   8
Tigers      6

The Tigers led early, but the ChiSox surged late scoring 5 runs after the fifth inning.

White Sox   5
Tigers      6

Once again the Tigers take the early lead only to see the Pale Hose storm back and tie the game 5-5. But this time the Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the ninth to split the doubleheader.

Indians @ Browns

Indians    7
Browns     3

The Indians broke a 2-2 in the sixth with a single run and then put the cherry on the sundae with a three run ninth.

Indians    8
Browns     5

The Browns draw first blood with a run in the bottom of the first, but after that it was Indians.

1951 Baseball Tour of America -Pacific Coast League #4

From southern California we head north to San Francisco for another clash of neighbors. It's the Battle of the Bay Area as the Oakland Oaks visit the San Francisco Seals.

Oakland Oaks          6
San Francisco Seals   5

A furious Seals rally scores three runs in the ninth, but falls a run shy of what they needed to tie.

Oakland Oaks          4
San Francisco Seals   3

The Oaks scored a run in the top of the second to take a lead that they would never relinquish in this close game.

Oakland Oaks          5
San Francisco Seals   7

The Seals bats come around and help them avoid the sweep.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - Pacific Coast League #3

Hooray for Hollywood!  Our next stop is glamorous Hollywood where the stars of the silver screen and the newly emerging medium of television come out to the ballpark to watch a game. Who knows - maybe Bogie and Bacall are in the stands today. Or maybe a future actor is playing first base for the crosstown Los Angeles Angels.

Los Angeles Angels   3
Hollywood Stars      6

The Stars take a 2-1 lead in the second and the Angels just couldn't catch up to them.

Los Angeles Angels   5
Hollywood Stars      6

This was a close one throughout as the Stars never lead by more than two runs.

Los Angeles Angels   9
Hollywood Stars      8 (12)

The Stars tie the game at eight a piece with a two run rally in the bottom of the ninth, but the Angels pick up the game winning run in the twelfth to avoid the sweep.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - Pacific Coast League #2

We now leave Oregon and cross into Washington where the Seattle Rainiers host the San Diego Padres.

San Diego Padres   1
Seattle Rainiers   6

Seattle's pitching allowed a few hits, but were clutch with runners on base.

San Diego Padres   5
Seattle Rainiers   6 (10)

The Rainiers tie the game in the bottom of the ninth and win it in the tenth.

San Diego Padres   3
Seattle Rainiers   4

Padres get a run in the top of ninth, but couldn't get the second run to tie the game. The Rainiers sweep the visitors.

1951 Baseball Tour of America - Pacific Coast League (AAA) #1

Let's head out to the Great Northwest for some Pacific Coast League action as the Portland Beavers host the Sacramento Solons.

Sacramento Solons   6
Portland Beavers    4

The Solons break a four all tie with two in the top of the ninth. The Beavers get a runner on in the bottom of the inning, but can't get a rally going.

Sacramento Solons   9
Portland Beavers    7

A four run third keyed the Solons' victory in this slugfest.

Sacramento Solons   5
Portland Beavers    4 (10)

The Solons break a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth with a run only to see the Beavers answer with one of their own. The Solons took the lead in the top of the tenth with a run and this time the Beavers would not have the answer. A sweep for the visitors.
