1911 Top Mound Showdown - Johnson v Gregg

Walter Johnson (10-73, Senators) vs Vean Gregg (10-75, Indians)

Neal Ball tripled and then scored the first run of the game on Terry Turner's single.

The Senators tied the game when Germany Schaeffer walked and then scored on Kid Elberfield's sac fly.

Johnson injured his arm in the fifth and had to leave the game.

Washington took the lead in the ninth when Doc Gessler scored on a Tilly Walker sac fly.

Charles Becker relieved Dixie Walker who had previously Johnson. The Naps gave him a rude welcome in the bottom of the ninth.

Ivy Olson led off with a single that was followed by a Shoeless Joe Jackson single. George Stovall doubled them both home for the dramatic win.
