Bender and the A's took a 3-1 lead in the top of the eighth when it all came apart for the Mack Attack. After the Pale Hose banged out hits and Philly committed three errors in the inning, the White Sox had a 7-3 lead. The A's added two runs in the bottom of the ninth before their rally fizzled out.
