Herb Score - May 23, 1956

May 23, 1956 vs. Boston (Frank Sullivan)

Red Sox  010 002 010  -  4  8  1
Indians  200 000 000  -  2  5  1

W - Sullivan             L - Score
Sv -  Harry Dorish

Home Runs - Piersall (BOS),  Gernert (BOS)
            Smith (CLE)

Gopher balls once again proved problematic for Score. The game started well enough for the Tribe on Al Smith's first inning two run homer, but that's all the Indians would get off of Frank Sullivan.

The Red Sox answered with a run in the second before launching a couple of deep shots off Score. Jimmy Piersall gave the Sox a 3-2 lead with a two run blast in the sixth. Dick Genert's solo shot in the eighth gave the Sox an additional run. Sullivan pitched well (4 hits, 3 walks, and one hits batsmen in 7.1 innings), though the Indians certainly had some chances leaving nine on base.
