1935 Top Mound Showdown - Bridges vs Harder

Tommy Bridges (Tigers. 10-64) vs Mel Harder (Indians 10-66)

1935 Tigers  000 002 022 1 -  7  13  0
1935 Indians 310 010 001 0 -  6  12  0

W - Chief Hogsett     L  - Oral Hildebrand
SV - Eldon Auker

Home Runs - Cochrane (Tigers), Hal Trosky (Indians)

Bit of a strange game because despite the offense, most of the hits seem to come off the pitcher cards.

The Tribe scored early and often against Bridges sending him to the showers after just five innings. Trailing 5-0, it looked bleak for the Tigers, but they chipped away and by the ninth inning they were trailing by just one. Mickey Cochrane's two run homer gave the Tigers a 6-5 lead. The Indians tied it up in the bottom of the ninth when Hal Trosky doubled home Earl Averill.

So, onto extra innings. Hank Greenberg led off with a single. Reliever Oral Hildebrand retired Goose Goslin and Billy Rogell before Gee Walker tripled home Greenberg.

Milt Galazter drew a walk in the bottom of the ninth off Eldon Auker, but was stranded at first. Chief Hogsett blew the save but picked up the win.
