1962-63 Mini-Replay Game 7

Detroit at Toronto

Toronto thrilled the home crowd with a couple of first period goals before Detroit got back in the game with a Gordie Howe power play goal in the second.  Toronto took over in the third thanks to a series of Detroit penalties. Dave Keon iced the game with a power play goal that gave Toronto a 4-1 lead and took the steam out of the visitors. Eddie Shack added the insult to the injury to make it a 5-1 final.

While Toronto was the class of the NHL in this season, it's still amazing how the Red Wings have had one period in each of their first three games where they just implode.

Finally, in a previous summary I had noted that Toronto's Carl Brewer was lost for the rest of the replay. Well, he made a miraculous recovery. Actually I realized later that I had misapplied the super simple injury rule, so he's healthy.
