1962-63 Mini-Replay Game 5

After intercepting an errant Detroit pass, Andy Hebenton zipped down the ice on the breakaway and smashed a slapshot that flew past a helpless Terry Sawchuck. Detroit actually outplayed New York in the first period outshooting them 13-8, but none went past Gump Worsley (what a great name).

While the first period was frustrating for Detroit, the second was a complete catastrophe. Not only did they give up 3 more goals, but they lost their 1st line center Parker McDonald for the rest of the game and for their next game as well.

It did not get any better for the Wings in the third as the Rangers dominated them for a 16-5 shots advantage. A great performance by the Rangers and a thoroughly forgettable one by the Red Wings.
