Birthday Replay - Ted Williams

I'm a day late with this, but Ted Williams was born on August 30, 1918 and here's a replay of an August 30, 1949 Red Sox game at Detroit.

         R   H  E
Boston   5  10  2
Detroit  4   9  0

WP - Ellis Kinder
LP - Fred Hutchinson
Sv - Walt Masterson

Ted's day:
1st inning - 2 run homer
3rd inning - hit by pitch, forced out at second
4th inning - walk, stranded on first
7th inning - flied out
9th inning - singled, picked off at first by pitcher

Despite 19 hits, 13 walks, 2 hit batters, and 2 errors, there were no double plays in this game.

The game ended when Boston's catcher Birdie Tebbets picked off Detroit's Don Kolloway at third base. Kolloway represented the potential tying run.

As noted above, Ted Williams was picked off in the top half of the inning, so this was the second successful pick off in this game.
